ESP32-S3 Minimal Circuit

Minimal but complete ESP32-S3 circuit with QSPI flash, auto-download, USB-C with ESD protection, and RF layout best practices. Drop-in ready for IoT and wireless products.

Every ESP32-S3 design resolves the same set of questions: flash wiring, strapping pins, download circuit, decoupling strategy, and RF clearance. This template makes all those decisions already — and documents why. The USB-C port handles both 1S charging (via the companion Li-Ion charger template) and firmware flashing. The auto-download circuit uses the standard EN/IO0 toggle, matching Espressif's reference. An integrated 3.3 V LDO provides clean rail separation for the RF section.

FAQ

What KiCad version do the files use?

All files are saved in KiCad 8.x format. They open in KiCad 7 with a one-time migration dialog.

Can I use the template in a commercial product?

Yes. Once purchased, you receive a perpetual licence to use and modify the design in any number of products, including commercial ones.

Are the BOMs kept up to date?

We review BOMs quarterly and push updates when components are discontinued or better alternatives become available. All updates are free.

What if my fab parameters differ (e.g. 4-layer board)?

The design notes explain which constraints are fab-specific. Upgrading to a 4-layer stack is straightforward and covered in the integration guide.
