High-side switch 3 A, up to 20 V
P-MOSFET high-side switch driven by a small N-MOSFET, so a 3.3 V GPIO can switch a 3.3–20 V rail or load: peripheral power, 12 V pumps or valves up to 3 A. A Zener diode clamps the gate-source voltage to about 10 V, so the MOSFET gate stays within its limit at any supply up to 20 V. The control input is pulled down, so the load is off at reset.

Key specifications
- Supply 3.3–20 V
- Load current up to 3 A (needs copper area for cooling)
- Control: high = on, pulled down (off at reset)
- Gate-source voltage clamped to about 10 V
- Slow turn-off: for on/off switching, not for PWM
Design notes
- Inductive loads (pumps, valves): add a freewheel diode across the load; it is not in this block.
- Not built yet: the gate clamp and switching at 12 V are still to be verified on a prototype.

FAQ
Which KiCad version do I need?
KiCad 10. The files are saved in the KiCad 10 format and are meant to be placed with KiCad’s Design Blocks feature (schematic block, then “Apply Design Block Layout” on the PCB).
Do I need the Circuit Issues part library?
No. Symbols are embedded in the schematic and footprints in the PCB, so the block opens on its own. Parts carry manufacturer part numbers and LCSC codes.
Is the layout production-ready?
The layout fragment passes the KiCad design rule check. Route it into your board and run DRC with your own fab rules.
Can I use the template in a commercial product?
The licence terms are published together with the first release.
